[디트로이트=주간미시간] 김택용 기자 = 3일 아침 발표된 한미 FTA 재협상안에 대해 포드 자동차 앨렌 머릴리 회장이 환영의 뜻을 표시했다.
백악관이 12월 3일 저녁 7시 25분 본보에 전송한 자료에 의하면 앨렌 머렐리 포드 회장은 “자유 무역을 옹호하는 글로벌 회사로서 오늘 발표된 한미 FTA 수정안에 대해 환영의 뜻을 전한다”라고 말하고 “오바마 대통령과 롼 커크 미국 무역 대표부가 상호 납득할 수 있는 무역 협상을 끌어 낸데 대해 감사한다”고 밝혔다.
그는 또 “관세 부문과 비관세 부문에 있어 수정안이 보다 확실하고 투명한 내용을 제시하고 있다”고 말하고 “이로 인해 한국 내 포드 소비자들에게 보다 나은 서비스를 제공할 수 있게 되었다”고 자신했다.
그는 마지막으로 “오바마 정부와 의회가 한국 시장을 열수 있도록 조건을 개선해 준것에 대해 감사한다”고 밝혔다.
포드는 지난 11월 4일 한미 FTA를 반대한다는 광고를 전미국 주요 신문과 포드 싸이트에( http://www.ford.com/freetrade) 게재하고 불공정 거래임을 주장한 바 있다. 크라이슬러도 한미 FTA에 반대한다는 의사를 9일 표명했었다.
